Hi Everybody,

This a placeholder to get us through until next week when a new look will be here for Light Diary along with the new plan! This image always makes me smile. A big thank you for this to Ira and Janet. Two friends I made on a workshop in Death Valley National workshop who shared the simple joy of kite flying. When you plant a little seed of joy its amazing what can happen. As Paul Harvey says if you would like to know the rest of the story you can download this Podcast….. an oldie but goodie…. The Power of Play

“Changes to Light Dairy”

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:20 pm

Hi Everybody,

After months of dreaming, conceptual design, and team work the new Radiant Vista web site is coming together very nicely. My primary focus as an artist is going to be shifting for the next two years to personally producing photography and content for Radiant Vista and working with The Radiant Vista team to dramatically grow the site.

I am going to continue to produce critiques for the Daily Critique feature of Radiant Vista. I am reviving the From Start to Finish idea for which we produced a couple of Radiant Vista videos. These videos will be a regular feature of the new Radiant Vista. If you never saw one of theses episodes they involve picking an image and showing the whole process behind creating the image from any conceptual work- to the digital contact sheet- to the final digital darkroom work.

Which brings me to Light Diary. The Light Diary Vidcasts are going to become an exclusive feature of Radiant Vista. I will be producing one to two episodes a month. To make space in my creative life for all of the content I want to make for Radiant Vista I am going to be reducing the number of images I post each week to Light Diary to three images. That will give me the opportunity to record shorter Light Diary Episodes or combine weeks for longer episodes. It will also give me more time for some of the Radiant Vista content that I plan on recording for our Premium Content Emporium.

Thank you so much for all of your support of Light Diary!…. Sincerely, Craig

Theme Week 45: Savannah Songs

Hi Everybody,

I met Yeti on Riverstreet in Savannah while I was teaching the March Next Step workshop. Yeti had an amazing effect on me and just about everyone who met him. Almost everyone that encountered Yeti and his music was happier as a result. Most people who see this post will smile. One of my gurus (Isaac Heyward) says the gift of a smile is one of the most profound things you can offer and/or inspire in another person.

I talked to Yeti for a little while and he told me his act came out of having performance anxiety.
Instead of letting the fear of playing his music in front of others stop him he got a Yeti suit and took to the streets with his guitar and song list. Reminds me of one of my all time favorite quotes…. A hero is a person who is afraid to run away (English proverb)….so thank you Yeti for inspiring me to smile, for encouraging me to be more courageous with my own music and for being an everyday hero. And a big thank you for inspiration to all of the performers who were featured on this week of Light Diary Savannah Songs.

Hope this finds everyone well. Have a great weekend……Craig

P.S. For another image that will make you laugh check out the amazing blog of one of my favorite artists Ted Byrne…. Ted Byrne’s Image Fiction is legend along with his gift with words. A word play concept led to Ted’s amazing and hilarious image.

Makes me think of two things…. working conceptually gives us permission to be potentially creative all of the time and one of the best things you can do for your photography is another form of art… like writing…. one form of expression can inform the other to make both more powerful than they might be alone……Craig
