“Getting Ready to Leave the ICU”

Canon 5D Mark II Lensbaby Composer ISO 3200 f2.8@ 1/2000
Hey Everybody,
Many of you already know who this is. For those of you that don’t this is my dear friend Wes Norman. I met Wes on a workshop several years ago. To say he has had a big and positive impact on my life would be a gross understatement.
Everywhere Wes goes he treats people with happiness…. he almost always arrives with a gift or gifts. His generosity seemingly knows no bounds. When Wes is around there is more energy and life is significantly more fun. Some of my best memories from the last few years have been hanging with Wes (and other great friends) and laughing my head off.
Wes very recently had bypass surgery. His recovery has been remarkable. So has the outpouring of love from his friends. And in that Wes has taught me another lesson that I already knew but its a lesson that could always use a tune up….”the love you get is equal to the love you give”.
If you would like to leave a get well message for Wes you can do that here.

What a great Lensbaby image, Craig. Yes, Wes has certainly impacted many lives of people. Everywhere he goes he leaves people feeling better. Last year I think it was, some of his former students from way back when descended on him and helped him celebrate his birthday. He was deeply touched that they wanted to do that for him.
As a professor of anatomy, retired, Wes, you are now experiencing the “other side” of that particular coin. It’s undoubtedly been an interesting and not always pleasant experience. Wes, I wish and pray that, now that you have a renewed lease on life in your physical body, that you’ll have as many more happy birthdays as you wish! Be well, my dear friend. Because if you don’t take care of yourself – I’ll really come whop you with that box of wet noodles! You see, all your wide circle of friends still need you – and just think of all the future friends who now will have a chance to interact with you, too!
Much love and many cyber hugs (wish they could be real ones)
Flo
Craig, Thank you for sharing not only this image, but the “back story” about Wes and your friendship. Understanding a little about his personality makes this image very special. I immediately connected with it, and you captured his energy and happy enthusiasm in a remarkable way. I don’t know Wes, but I can almost hear him laugh and feel his positive energy after seeing this image and reading your post.
There are SO many people in this world like Wes who lift our spirits and inspire us, yet go unsung. Thanks for reminding me to seek out and cherish such wonderful folks!
Just a thought, Craig – if you have your little Roland with you, how about recording Wes’ laughter? Or some of his comments (plus laughter), like you had started to do when you were asking strangers a question?
Love & Hugs,
Flo
What a beautiful picture! Wes looks like an angel (because he is).
