Absolutely awesome portrait of Red, Craig. His eyes show a lot of sadness, to me and their sharpness seems to accentuate that sadness, but, at the same time, there seems to be the start of a smile. I feel as though I am standing alongside him. Love the black and white treatment.

Riveting photo, Craig! I didn’t think about how crop factor cameras would affect the Lensbaby–I’m going to have to try the Composer on my 7D! Thanks for the idea!

Thank you for being here and thank you for the kind comments about this image.
Red is a great guy…..someone I recently met doing street photography.
I made this image on the first day I met him. He was generous enough to let me take a lot of very close portraits. I made some Polaroid Pogo prints for him in exchange. I hope to get a chance to photograph him again…. Craig
“Riveting”, as sara wrote, is a great choice of words to describe the impact this image has on me. I keep coming back to the eyes — so crystalline and focused — even as everything seems to be swirling around him, including the proffered rose.
